The second Indian Centre for Agriculture Research of the country is going to be established at Hazaribagh. On June 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of this prestigious organisation here which will be a gift to Jharkhand. This was stated by Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh, while talking to newspersons here on Monday evening. Singh said in 1904, the first ICAR was established at Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar, which was transferred to Delhi after 1934 earthquake. Since then it was the only centre in the country but now Hazaribagh is going to get the honour of having second ICAR of the country.
“Since the formation of Modi Government we were trying to open this centre in Jharkhand but the previous Hemant Soren Government showed no interest in our proposal. CM Raghuvar Das not only took the initiative but also transferred 1,000 acres of land within three months of formation of BJP Government in this State. The Centre has sanctioned Rs100 crore as first allotment for this centre and from June 28 construction work will start here, added Singh.
Central Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh said that the aim of establishment of this centre in Jharkhand is to fulfill the needs of peasants of eastern zone of the country. He hoped that this centre will not only provide better quality of seeds to the peasants of all States of eastern zone but also help in increasing the crop yield of this area by giving new scientific ideas and techniques.
