The pending works in the Gandhi Centenary Eye hospital should be completed within three months. The health Minister of Uttarakhand set this deadline for the executive agency entrusted with task of constructing the hospital at a programme organised to mark the birth anniversary of father of nation on Friday.
He said that the pending amount of `5 Crore would be released soon for the hospital. The Minister said that the project was initially estimated to cost Rs 12.22 Crores but due to some reasons the work on the construction delayed resulting in cost escalation now. Paying glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and lal Bahudur Shastri, the minister said that everyone should take inspiration from their life and works. Negi offered floral tributes to the pictures of these two great leaders.
Speaking on the occasion the Principal Secretary health, Om Prakash said the Gandhi centenary hospital once completed would benefit the people of the state in general and surrounding area in particular. He too asked the executive agency to expedite work. The PS said that the lack of parking facility in the hospital could pose problems to the people visiting this facility. He asked the officers of the department to earmark a place for parking in the vicinity of the hospital.
The Secretary health, Bhupendra Kaur Olakh said that the people of the state have a high expectation from the hospital. She said that the hospital would soon start functioning for the benefit of the people.
