The joint eviction team consisting of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), the General Administration (GA), Drainage Division of Bhubaneswar and the Commissionerate Police on Friday removed encroachment over Gangua Nala (master drain of Bhubaneswar) near Nuagaon petrol pump under the Dhauli police limits in the city.
BDA sources said one Ghanashyam Bhati had illegally obstructed the free flow of drain water by putting Hume Pipe and by filling moorum. As all master drains including masonry drains (directly or indirectly) of the city are connected with Gangua Nala for free discharge of storm water to avoid water logging situation, removal encroachment was necessary, added the sources.
later the eviction drive was stopped due to rain and lack of required machineries including Poclain machine (Chain Mounting Excavator), said liasoning Officer of the BDA Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty. One platoon of gents APR Force, one section lady force and OSSF personals and homeguards of the BDA were deployed at the site to maintain law and order during the demolition drive
