Eminent Doordarshan artiste Purvadhanashree conducted a lecture-demonstration of the classical dance ‘Vilasini Natyam’ at The Aryan School, Mussoorie Diversion Road, Malsi-Greens, Dehradun, under the banner of Spic Macay. In ancient times, ‘Vilasini Natyam’ used to be performed by the women dancers who were attached to the temples and royal courts.
Purvadhanashree while presenting “Vilasini Natyam” narrated tales of Telugu dancers-cum-singers, the ‘dev dasis’ dancing in temples and courts to please the lords and the kings. She also invited questions from the students gathered there and answered their queries in details. She was accompanied by S Vasudevanji on Natuvangem, Rajat Prusannaji on flute, V Shreedhacharji on Mridangam and vocalist K Ventateshwaranji.
