FIR against scribes for dragging Maneka, 2 others in Dadri lynching case

Friday, 09 October 2015 | SP Singh | Ghaziabad

The People for Animal (PFA) have lodged an FIR against media persons for falsely dragging Maneka Gandhi and two PFA persons in the Dadri lynching case. Gaurav Gupta from PFA lodged an FIR at Sahibabad station in which he named journalists Ashok Pratap Rai and Amresh Mishra. "We have registered the case under sections 195, 500, 501 and 120 (B) of IPC. The investigation has been initiated," said Hardayal Singh Yadav, the Station Officer of Sahibabad police station.

The FIR stated that Amresh and Rai have falsely published and mentioned that Gaurav Gupta and Saurav Gupta, two brothers, were arrested in the case of lynching of Ikhlaq in Bisara village of Dadri over rumours that his family consumed meat or slaughtered a cow. The journalists have been accused of further publishing that the two brothers committed crime at the behest of Union Minister Maneka Gandhi. They showed that since Maneka Gandhi runs an NGO, PFA, the two brothers were involved in the crime to protect cow.

Giving evidence in the FIR, Gaurav Gupta said the two media persons have deliberately tarnished the image of two brothers Gaurav and Saurav and their mentor Maneka Gandhi.

They had been active for a cause to protect animals from cruelty. They had nothing to do with Dadri case. Neither were they arrested nor were they interrogated in Dadri case. "The two accused who were arrested in Dadri case are Gaurav Singh and Saurav Singh. They are not even closely related to them. The two media persons have deliberately defamed them and the NGO headed by Maneka Gandhi," stated Gaurav in the FIR.
