Commerce and Transport Minister Subrat Tarai on Saturday inaugurated the second Regional Transport Office, (RTO, Bubaneswar-II), at KIIT Square here.
Tarai said the new RTO is intended to lessen the workload of the existing one while providing both online and offline services to the people residing in areas like Mancheswar, Nayapally, Khandagiri, Tamando, Jatni, Chandrasekharpur, Inocity, Chandaka and Nanadankanan.
The Minister informed that two more RTO offices, one at Talcher and another at Jajpur town, will be established soon.
Informing that the city has now about nine lakh motor vehicles, new RTO Sanjay Kumar Behera said the RTO Bhubaneswar-II will bear the vehicle registration code as OD-33. The RTO Bhubaneswar—I will continue to bear OD-02, he informed. Two persons, Satyabrat Mohapatra and Chanchal Preet, received a driving licence and a learning licence, respectively from the Minister on the occasion.
