Month-long Narayani Yatra ends in Phulbani

Month-long Narayani Yatra drew to a close on Sunday last. It had begun on May 2. Presiding deity Maa Narayani was taken out in a procession from her temple to the Yatra venue. The deity also moved the nook and corner of Phulbani.

In the last part of the Yatra, it pulled huge crowd with Mina Bazaar and various shops having been put up. People from rural areas came in droves to enjoy the festivities.A grand farewell was organized for the farewell as the festival ended and the deity was taken back to her temple. The Yatra is held once in every two years and this was its 22 rounds. It was first started by the people of Ganjam who came to Phulbani for their livelihood. Now, it is very popular across the district, especially in Kandhamal.
