Noted Manipuri dancer Bimbavati Devi enthralled the predominately student audience at the Kasiga School here on Sunday. The programme was organised by the Dehradun chapter of Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY).
The programme started with a brief description of different dance styles and culminated in scintillating solo and duet performances. Bimbavati Devi and Arpita Saha assisted by singer N Romila Devi and percussionist S Tomba Singh presented a variety of dances based on Basanta Raas, Pung Cholon, Nani Churi and Mandira Nartan
A lecture-demonstration on the basic steps of Manipuri dance was presented by Devi and she also held a brief interactive session with the staff and students at the end of the programme The artistes were felicitated by the Head of Activities at Kasiga School Ashish Arora with a vote of thanks.
