The Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) has claimed that its consumers are showing interest for online payment of electricity bills through its website.
The online mode of payment, which was started in November 2012 for its valued consumers to get them freed from standing in the long queues, to save their valuable time and the risk of cash handling, got very good response as the website witnessed 32,300 online payers during June 2014 against 24,490 in June last year.
“During the month of November 2012, the website witnessed only 56 online payers, but now it crossed more than 33,000 mark,” official sources said, adding, “The CESU has collected electricity dues `6.5 crore through online payment.”
The CESU in a Press release said the consumers could payment online through two websites, www.cescoorissa.com and www.cesuodisha.com. After browsing the website, the consumer could follow the processes for payment through their net banking or credit card or debit card or ATM card as per the similar procedure followed for railway ticket reservation and online purchases.
The CESU said that some of the urban consumers in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are regularly receiving billing information through SMS. CESU requested its 18 lakh customers in nine districts of the State to get benefit through this e-payment system.
