CCl adopts tigress Durga

The Central Coalfields limited (CCl) on Friday adopted a tigress named Durga, at Bhagawan Birsa Munda Biological Park, Ormanjhi, Ranchi, under the CSR initiative.  The company has completed all its formalities for adoption of the tigress for five years in the presence of the senior forest officials of Jharkhand.

On this occasion, Gopal Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, CCl, R R Mishra, Director (Personnel), T K Nag, Director (Technical operations), Arbind Prasad, Chief Vigilance Officer, former CVO Vismita Tej, Pramila Singh (wife of CMD), Anita Mishra( wife of Director(P), Neena Nag ( wife of Director (Tech/Opns), senior officials of the forest department, Jharkhand Government and others were present. In addition to these, GM (Civil), GM (Environment), HOD(NEE) and other officials of different departments were also present.

Addressing the representatives of trade unions, Gopal Singh said that on the occasion of “Navratra( Durga Puja),”  the company has adopted the tigress, which is aimed at saving tigers and other endangered species. He said that the company has been focusing on sustainable development and it develops green cover of 2.84 acres against 1 acre of land.

The CMD also announced that the company will give onetime payment to the Zoo authority for fulfilling the requirements of the tigress Durga. He handed over cheque of 2.95 lakh for one year to Dr DV Srivastava, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Jharkhand Government. He was handed over a certificate by AK Patra, Director,  Bhagawan Birsa Munda Biological Park in this connection.

Dr. Srivastava said that Goddess Durga’s vahana(vehicle) is tigress and CCl has adopted Durga(tigress) during this period of auspicious Navratra. “ We express gratitude to CCl for giving attention to the environment under its CSR programmes,”  Dr. Srivastava said. Sri Alok Kumar and Sri S Bakshi- both officials of CCl- played key role in organizing the programme at zoo.
