Bastar tribal students call on Guv

Tribal students from Bastar Division paid a courtesy call on Governor Balramji Dass Tandon at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. The students are on an educational tour of Raipur city.

On the occasion, Tribal Caste and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Kedar Kashyap and Additional Chief Secretary NK Aswal were also present. The students presented a wooden artifact to the Governor on the occasion.

In conversation with the students, Tandon said that they should be sincere towards their studies and should work hard for unleashing new dimensions of development in Bastar region.

He said that despite all the challenges, all-round efforts should be made to facilitate education, health and other basic facilities in remote areas like Bastar. Governor asked the children about lifestyle of people in Bastar region and also heard their experiences.

Sarojini, a student from Narayanpur told him that first time her life, she got to see the airport and that moment has become the most memorable experience for her.

Sukhman Salam stated that he enjoyed his visit to Raj Bhavan, Raipur Municipal Corporation Office and other places in Raipur.

Punnulal Salam said that in this educational tour, he got to see a train for the first time in his life. On the occasion, the students had a look at Durbar hall, Governor’s Secretariat and other areas of Raj Bhavan.

It is noteworthy that during their educational tour to Raipur, the group of students visited Budha Talab, Purkhauti Muktangan, Indoor Stadium, Mantralaya, Swami Vivekananda Airport Mana, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Office etc. Mewnwhile, as per the directives of the Governor, rigorous cleaning drive has been commenced in the Governor’s Secretariat, residence and office premises of Rajbhavan under ‘Swachchh Bharat Abhiyaan.’

Tandon had told officials that the Central government of India has pledged to achieve the target of Clean India by the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi i.e. by October 2, 2019. It is the responsibility of every citizen to adopt hygienic ways so as to maintain clean surroundings and contribute to success of this campaign.

He said that people should actively and enthusiastically participate in this campaign to create a clean and healthy environment.

It is noteworthy that cleanliness drive has also begun in various departments, residence and office premise of Raj Bhavan. Under this programme, records and files in the offices are also being arranged systematically
