MHA orders transfer of 16 IAS officers

Saturday, 11 January 2014 | Pramod Kumar Singh | New Delhi

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday ordered the transfer of 16 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of Arunachal, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre to Delhi and other States.

In a related development, 12 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the AGMUT cadre too were transferred out to different States. Out of the list of IPS officers, three senior IPS officers currently holding important assignments with Delhi Police were transferred to Arunachal, Mizoram and Puducherry.

In a significant transfer among the IPS officers Kishan Kumar, the Director General of Police (DGP) Goa has been transferred back to Delhi and he will be replaced by TN Mohan of the 1986 batch, posted as Special Commissioner of Police, Operations.

SS Yadav, SCl Das and Prashant Goyal, the three senior IAS officers and posted as Principal Secretary Urban Development and Director of local Bodies, Principal Secretary Health and Commissioner Value Added Tax (VAT) have been transferred to Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Goa respectively. They were given important assignments during Sheila Dikshit Government. Yadav was especially brought to the local Bodies department to ensure that ‘Annashree’ a flagship programme of the Delhi Government for the poor functioned properly.

Punya Salil Srivastava, a 1993 batch IAS officer and currently posted at Andaman and Nicobar islands, has been transferred back to Delhi and is expected to be given an important assignment in the new dispensation. VC Pandey of the 1999 batch, Garima Gupta and Sanjay Goel of the 2004 batch, Sachin Shinde and KK Jindal of the 2008 and 2000 batch have been transferred back to Delhi. Shurbir Singh of 2004 batch, Ashok Kumar of 2006 batches and Arti lal of 2010 batch has been sent out of Delhi to take up assignments in other States.

In a related development Praveer Ranjan, the Joint CP of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has been sent to Puducherry. An officer of the 1993 batch Ranjan has held many important assignments with Delhi Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). RS Yadav of the 1995 batch and currently posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch has been sent to Arunachal Pradesh. Interestingly, Yadav had reported back to Delhi Police after a gap of four and half years after completing his posting at Goa but he finds himself transferred again. It would be pertinent to mention here that Arunachal Pradesh is bursting to the seams with MHA transferring IPS officers in droves while Delhi Police has been left gasping as it faces acute paucity of IPS officers to take up important assignments. Gaurav Sharma, the Additional DCP of South East district has been sent to Mizoram while Arun Kampani posted with Chandigarh Police is back to Delhi Police.

Garima Bhatnagar, of the 1994 batch, is finally back to Delhi Police after a long gap. A no-nonsense officer, she is expected to be given important posting in Delhi Police. Pushpinder Singh and Vikarm Jeet Singh of the 2005 batch have been transferred back to Delhi from Arunchal Pradesh.
