Tale of generation gap staged through Hindi play 'Sankraman'

A tale of generation gap was staged through a Hindi play ‘Sankraman’ at Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium, here on Wednesday.

The seven-day theatre festival is being organised by Nazar group Bhopal. Directed by a veteran Bollywood actor and founder of Nazar Group, Ahmed Khan, the play is an adaptation of a Hindi story by a noted Hindi writer Kamta Nath.

Hindi play Sankraman (The Circle of life) is based on the tender relationship between a father and a son and the difference between their generations. The play surrounds the story of a man and his family. The man tries to inculcate his moral values in his son’s lifestyle. As he tries to maintain the peace in his family, he realizes that when he was young how he used to behave with his father.

The play was a splendid synchronisation between the past and present incidents. The play begins with introducing the present situation, but as the circumstances arises and situation strikes the family, the audiences travel to the flashback of the old memories.

According to the director of the play Ahmed Khan, “It is said that what you give to others would surely comes back to you. This play in some manner relates to this saying. The relationship between parents and children is nothing new to show to the audiences, but the essence of the story is that it is picked up from the real incidents and situation.” He further informed that this is the second show of this play by Nazar Group. “Earlier we staged this play in our first theater festival ‘Fun Unlimited’ and we received a huge response,” he added contently.

The production was entirety mesmerising, be it in its backdrop or in the virtuosity of the actor’s craft is significant of a simplicity that is commendable. The lighting effect was used sensibly that enhanced the moods of the scenes.

Ahmed Khan as father, Kriti Sinha as wife and Mohammad Zoheb as Son gave a wonderful performance. The play as a whole created a connectivity between the characters and the audiences as the presentation was lively and enthusiasm.
