The Raphael Ryder Cheshire home has been shortlisted as one of the finalists by the Resource Alliance India for the India NGO Awards 2012-13.
The India NGO Awards is a national competition that aims to celebrate and reward the best non-governmental and non-profit organisations which have demonstrated best practices in creative and successful resource mobilisation, financial management, governance and impact on the community.
Over 270 NGOs from all over the country competed in three different categories based on their annual budget. Raphael Ryder Cheshire home has been selected as one the finalists for India NGO Award 2012/13 in the Rs one crore to Rs five crore category for its efforts in providing relief and rehabilitation facilities to the needy.
The Resource Alliance India chair Surat Sandhu said, “NGOs in India are doing a good job and this award was instituted to give them the much needed recognition that they deserve. It’s heartening to see the impact NGOs have made in bringing about tangible benefits to their target communities. However, it’s essential that NGOs are equipped with the strategy, skills and knowledge that will help them build fundraising capacities and improve long-term financial sustainability.
How to raise funds and remain sustainable is a dilemma faced by most Indian NGOs today. This is where Resource Alliance steps in as a trusted intermediary”. Raphael was founded by humanists Group Captain lord leonard Cheshire and his wife Baroness Sue Ryder in April 1959.
