Born in 1956, she is just a matriculate in academics living her life like any other housewife. Performing the daily chorus and answering to the familial and worldly responsibilities didn’t let her pursue her passion —crafting on clothes.
But no longer is Renu Jalan any other lady. At an age of 57, when most of the women think of retiring she started to pursue her passion. She says she always had craved for crafting the pieces of cloths, giving them different look. Earlier she used to do it but only for homely purposes. “But I had never thought I could manage to chase it beyond my home,” Renu says, “But thanks to my brother Pawan Bajaj (A noted businessman of Jharkhand) who told me I could well manage to live my dream. On February 15 I started to act as per his advice.
” On that day Renu made first craft on clothes. “I had been making such arts on clothes earlier too but I don’t know why the efforts that day gave me a different feeling. Within days I realised I could expand my passion to take form of business. And then I established Aloki Boutique in Kolkata,” she says. Through the boutique in Kolkata she wants to bring her arts and creativity before world. The world outside her home received her creativity with open arms. Within six months of starting making of the boutique products — mainly sarees and suits — in her home they are reaching across the country through wholesale businessman. The designs to be crafted on the pieces of clothes are visualised by her.
Her visualisations are then precipitated on clothes by more than 40 workers. Seeing the success of her venture two other women joined her. Aneeta Jhunjhunwala and Aneeta Aggrawall have been partnering her. Three ladies have given employment to more than 40 people who work for crafting her creativity on pieces of clothes. “Prior to February I was like any other housewife. But I am happy now I have given employment to these 40 people. Not only I am living my dream I am helping these 40 families live their lives,” Renu said. Renu’s Aloki Boutique had also put its stall in recently concluded two days fest ‘Sawan Sindhara’ at Ranchi. Hers was one of the most frequented stalls. “Now I want to devote my life in expanding this business. I want world to appreciate my creativity,” she explained her future plans.
