Finally, the city police have succeeded in nabbing the number two kingpin of the sector-16 sex racket here, who had been absconding, on Friday.

According to police sources, a girl of sector-17 area here had gone missing on October 23, following which her family had lodged a missing report at sector-15 police station. The girl could not be traced till November 25, when, acting on a tip-off, the police raided Qr no B/140 in sector-16 and rescued her.

However, the police could not arrest the culprits as they fled. After the rescue, the girl narrated before the police how she had been lured by money and engaged in flesh trade.

On November 27, a police team raided the house in sector-16 again and caught hold of Ranjita Nisha (35), one of the prime accused involved in the sex racket.

Sources said, Ranjita is a divorcee who was staying with one Naki Ahmed Khan (40) along with her two daughters. Both were running the sex racket from that quarter. Naki allegedly used to bring girls from other districts and outside the State to force them into flesh trade.

Naki was giving the slip to the police till Friday when he was apprehended by the police during his visit to jail to meet Ranjita.

During interrogation, Naki confessed before the police that he and his kept Ranjita had been running flesh trade in that rented quarter for the past three years. They were targeting poor and illiterate girls and maid servants to run their show. Also the girls, who were coming to the city in search of work, used to fall prey to their dirty tricks. Naki and Ranjita used to befriend with the gullible girls first and then collect their mobile numbers. After talking to them a couple of times, they used to invite the girls to the quarter where they would force them into flesh trade with the lure of money.

“We have arrested the other kingpin Naki and he has confessed to the crime. We have also forwarded him to court,” said Sector-15 police station IIC Babita Tripathy.
