From October 2, the Main Road of Hazaribagh will be called lal Bahadur Shashtri Marg. The Municipal Council of Hazaribagh has taken this decision in its board meeting which concluded on Tuesday late evening.

Proposals of renaming roads and stadium was discussed by the members in this meeting and they finally agreed to change the name of Indrapuri Chowk as lal Bahadur Shashtri Chowk, Road from Indrapuri Chowk to Hazaribagh Railway Station which passes through Main Road, Khirgaon etc. as lal Bahadur Shashtri Marg, from Jain Middle School to Gandhi Smarak as Mahatma Gandhi Path and Gilan lane of Ward No. 17 as Mathura Nagar.

The proposal of Minister Jaiprakash Bhai Patel of naming the Hazaribagh Stadium as late Teklal Mahto Stadium was not accepted by the members of Municipal Council. The meeting was presided over by chairman Anjali Kumari and in this meeting some members clashed with each other when a councilor Deep Ranjan raised the matter of payment of his withheld honorarium. Even chairs were thrown by the members on each other. Husband of a female councilor entered in the meeting hall which worsened the situation.

Finally chairman Anjali Kumari, vice chairman Anand Dev and others succeeded in solving the dispute by saying that this matter will be solved by taking legal opinion from the advocate general of the state. In this meeting the members decided to increase revenue of the board by charging for the advertisement boards, hoardings etc. in the council area.

The board of municipal council also decided to make auction of the bus stands and to make special arrangement of electricity, drinking water and cleanliness during Durga Puja. In this meeting members raised questions about the bad condition of roads of Hazaribagh town.
