Tragedy hit the State when 28 people which included 24 of marriage parties were killed while over five dozen others were injured in four separate road accidents reported on Tuesday.
According to reports in the first case, a roadways bus of Khurja Depot (UP81AF-1481) coming from Delhi collided with a DCM (UP84T-1686) inJalapur Panwara locality of Kotwali area in Kannauu after which the bus driver lost control over the vehicle and it turned upside down. Reports confirmed that 11 of the bus passangers who all were members of a marriage party besides 30 others of the same group were seriously injured on Tuesday morning. Those killed were identified as Bhupendra (16), Shivam (10), Kanhaiya (16), Malkhan (28), Rinku (27), Mahabeer (32), Santosh (24), Neetu (17), Suman (27), all native of Mainpuri and two other unknown passengers. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital where condition of few is stated to be critical.
In another incident reported from Pilibhit, 7 baratis were killed and 35 injured when their bus overturned and fell into Khannaut river on Bilsanda-Bandabasat road in the district in the wee hours of Tuesday. Reports said that the accident occurred when a marriage party from Puranpur was on its way to Bilsanda for the wedding. Among the deceased were three sisters. The deceased were identified as Sheetal(11), Vaisali(10), Poonam(8)(all three are sisters), Rambeti(50), Braj Bihari lal Shukla(62), Nanhe lal(45) and Ram lal(50). The injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
In another accident at Mathura, six people were killed when their car collided with a truck in Kosikala area of the district late on last night. According to reports, a speeding Alta Car (HR29J-8039) going from Mathura to New Delhi collided head-on with a truck and later rammed with a tractor in which six of the occupants were killed while four others were seriously injured. They were shifted to District Hospital. All the victims were returning after attending a marriage ceremony. Those killed were identified as Shankar, a native of Haryana, Bhagwan Swaroop, hailing from Rajasthan, Mukesh, and Kedarnath, residents of Madhya Pradesh and two their unknown accomplices.
In last mishap reported from Faizabad on Tuesday, a speeding PICUP van (UP42AT-3844) collided with a truck (UP42T-2681), at Thendha hamlet of Kumarganj in which four persons were killed. They were identified as Mohamed Sharief, a native of Inayatnagar in Faizabad, Punnu aka Mohamed Raees, Nafees Ahmed, and Ibrahim, all residents of Dumriyaganj in Siddharthnagar were killed. Three others including the driver Deep Chandra Yadav, a native of Basti were injured in the mishap. They were shifted to hospital.
