Muscle Energy Techniques workshop conducted

Bhubaneswar : Professor Dr Umasankar Mohanty conducted a workshop on muscle energy techniques(MET) and its application in the field of sports organised by Edutrack Events, Dubai ( www.Physioseminar.net) in collaboration with Manual Therapy Foundation of India ( www.mtfi.net) at Department of Physiotherapy,Rashid Hospital, Dubai on December 6 and 7.  The MET techniques are very useful to treat muscular tightness , pain and muscular weakness. MET are very advanced manual therapy techniques which is providing immediate clinical results in the field of sports. The resource person the Indian Association of Physiothgerapists and Founder President, Manual Therapy Foundation of India Prof.Umasankar Mohanty conducted the workshop. Dr.Mohanty is a native of Baulanga village of Jagatsinghpur District, Odisha. 22 Physiotherapists from Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Poland, Pakistan, Philippines, India and Macedonia participated in the workshop. Dr.Hamda Al Kitbi, Dr. Shaju Kareem and Dr.Noora Al Falasi were the course organisers for making the event successful. “Over the years, the treatment of muscular injury and rehabilitation through application of physiotherapy has become very urgent for the players. The healthcare needs have also increased. Physiotherapy has created a niche for itself as a drugless therapy for pain management. The domain of physiotherapy is not limited to old, invalid or decrepit. It can heal and restore health to all the players in the ground itself”, added Umashankar Mohanty.

 

Kishor Club enter Gyana Patnaik Memorial semis

Bhubaneswar : Kishor Club of Bhubaneswar entered the semifinals in the city team category by defeating Yazdani Club-73 in the 5th Gyana Patnaik Memorial Football Tournament at Gandarpur in the city outskirt here on Monday. The match between Kishor and Club-73 ended in goalless draw in the stipulated time. Kishor scripted win by 4-2 goals vie through penalty stroke. Similarly in the village category, Belagachia and Khairapada entered the quarterfinal rounds. Tangibanta got the lead against Belagachia through the goal of Jitendra Jena in the 7th minute, but Belagachia team bounced back in style and Sipun Behera scored the equaliser in the 27th minute, Belagachia defeated Tangibanta by 4-2 vie through penalty stroke. In another match between Khairapada and Gadakana ended in goalless draw in the allotted time. In the penalty stroke Khairapada edged out Gadakana by 4-1 goals.

 

Asif bags double titles in State TT meet

Bhubaneswar : Top seeded Asif Haque emerged champion in the men’s single and youth boys singles events respectively in the Inter District and Odisha State Table Tennis Championship, which concluded at Table Tennis Academy Indoor Hall in Angul on Monday, being organised by Angul District Athletic Association under the aegis of Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA). Top seeded women player Samartha Prusty bagged women’s single title. Total 263 players including 39 girls from across 14 districts and six institutions were participated in the four-day-long meet. Angul District collector Ranjit Kumar Mohanty distributed the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony in presence of Municipality chairman Akshaya Kumar Samant, General Manager ( Maintenance ),NTPC UK Dasgupta, Nalco executive director Sanjib Kumar Ray, District Athletic Association secretary Nilamani Rout, OSTTA secretary RK Parida and chief referee Jibal Samal.
