18 cadets graduate from RIMC

In a most impressive graduation ceremony of the 173rd Course held at RIMC in Dehradun on Thursday, Vice-Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal DC Kumaria gave away prizes to cadets to who excelled in various activities in the college.

The ceremony is held every term to felicitate the meritorious cadets and present the parchment certificates to the passing out course.

A total of 18 cadets passed out in the graduation ceremony. The most coveted of all awards, "The Sword of Honour" was presented by former Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal NC Suri was given to Cadet Captain ligang Kobing by the chief guest, Vice-Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Kumaria.

The Col DH Parab Trophy for the most helpful cadet was bagged by Cadet Section Commander Avinash Chhetry whereas Cadet Mayank Dhama won Cadet Best in Attitude award.

The Cadet Section Commander Ravi Pathak was awarded with The Wavell Sword whereas as GOC UB Area Trophy for Cadet Best in leadership was given to Cadet Captain ligang Kobing.

Among other awardees were Cadet Chetan Kumar, Cadet CS Panigrahi, Cadet Shashank Shekhar, Cadet NCO AK Rai, Cadet Md Salman, Cadet Sub NCO O Nelson Singh (College Blue in cricket), Cadet Sub NCO Saurabh Shukla (Gold Badge in debating), Cadet NCO AK Rai (Gold badge in academics), Cadet Kaushal Kumar, Cadet Section Commander Aviansh Chettry and Cadet Mayank Dhama.

Air Marshal DC Kumaria felt nostalgic while addressing the audience. He recounted tales of the days when he was in the college. He spoke about the changes that could be seen in the college and how the focus was today more on academics than on sports, something which was absent during his time.

He also urged from them to remain update and come forward to participate in sports and adventure activities as it helps for the overall development of the personality of the individual.

later, Col HS Bainsla RIMC, Commandant presented a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries.

A college memento was also presented to the chief guest. It is noteworthy that an alumnus of the college, Air Marshal Kumaria was in the college 49 years ago and part of the illustrious course that included the present Vice Chief of Army Staff, lt Gen SK Singh. IMA Commandant lt Gen Manvender Singh, Air Vice Marshal MH Suresh and Air Vice Marshal Hari Kumar were also present.
