During the last nine years, the Public Works Department of the State Government has constructed 13 important bridges across the State with a total cost of Rs 54.51 crore. Following the construction of these bridges the residents of hundreds of villages got perennial access to the remaining parts of the state, said an official statement on Thursday.
Public Works Department minister Brijmohan Agrawal said that a 285 metre long bridge has been constructed on the Shivnath river near Mohara on the Rajnandgaon-Antagarh road with a total cost of Rs 12,77,57,000. With the construction of the bridge about 43,000 people from 30 villages of the region have been benefited, he added.
Similarly, in Korea district, a 140 metre long bridge with a total cost of Rs 1,77,86,000 has been constructed on the Neur river on Murkle road, whereas, in Kabirdham district, a 115-meter-long road has been constructed on the Haff river on Bakela-Parsanar-Kankalin road under Pandariya region with a cost of Rs 2,88,32,000, which benefits about 14,000 people from 26 villages of the region.
In Narayanpur district, the nearby villagers had to face problems during rainy season as there was no bridge on the Sakari Beda River on Narayanpur-Bamhni road. looking to the troubles of the people of the area, the State Government has sanctioned Rs 2.59 crore for the construction of a 119-metre-long bridge on the river.
The minister said that the construction of a high-level bridge on the Hasdeo river on Kodagar-Dullapur road in Korba district has been completed with an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore in June last. About 12 thousand people of 16 villages have been benefited with the construction of a 300-metre-long bridge on the Bhand river on Bhalunara-Navrang road in the Kharsia region of Raigarh district, the minister added.
Agrawal said that a 240-metre-long bridge with an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore has been constructed on the Baganai Nullah on Amakoni-Tamore village road in Gariyabandh district.
Rs 5.63 crore have been spent on the construction of a 336-metre-long bridge on the Rehand river on Bagdari-Mutki-Nimha road in Sarguja district. Administrative sanction for Rs 1.90 crore had been accorded for the construction of a 109-metre-long bridge on the Hatkul river on Vyas Kongra-DevKongra road in September 2010. Now, construction of the bridge has been completed.
In Raigarh district, construction of an 830-meter-long bridge (longest bridge in the State) on the Mahanadi is going on. For the construction of the bridge administration sanction for Rs 45.09 crore had been accorded in July 2008.
later, on June 11, 2012, a revised sanction of Rs 56.48 crore had been accorded for the bridge. After construction of the bridge perennial facilities would be available from Raigarh district headquarters to Pusaur, Saria and Odisha state.
