A woman, working as a senior official with City Excise and Taxation Department, has registered an FIR with the Gurgaon Police against in-laws for rape and dowry harassment on Wednesday evening. Police said she had levelled rape charges against one of her relatives, identified as Sandeep Sharma, who had allegedly raped her during his visit to her Gurgaon residence in Sector 54 recently.

The victim’s sister-in-law, Neha Sharma with her husband Sandeep Sharma, visited her place recently; the family members had planned on watching a movie. The victim was not present when the plan was made since she was at work in Gurgaon.

“Sandeep Sharma feigned illness and did not go with the others to watch the movie. When the woman returned home, Sharma allegedly raped her,” the official added.

Alok Mittal, Police Commissioner of Gurgaon, said Rubal Ravish, the victim, was married to an excise and taxation officer (ETO) Aditya Takshak on July 12, 2012. She was victimised for dowry since the inception of her marriage. Recently, her in-laws had demanded `1 crore from her father who has been posted as Inspector General of Police in Karnal. “We have arrested victim’s husband Aditya Takshak, an ETO posted in Faridabad, for dowry harassment. An ACP rank officer has been appointed to investigate the matter,” Mittal said. Gurgaon Police have booked Sandeep Sharma under Section 376 (rape) of IPC, while her husband and three other relatives, including the victim’s mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law are booked for dowry harassment at Civil lines Police Station.
