The Ranchi police have unfolded the mystery in sensational Pandra double murder case, with police arresting the main accused in the case. Ranchi SP (City) Anshuman Kumar said that the case is of love affair, with accused Arpit Arnab(19 year) having a relationship with deceased girl Shweta Singh. The police also said that the FIR accused Rohan had no involvement in the case.

“Rohan, who was earlier named as accused in the FIR registered by the maternal uncle of the deceased, is innocent. Based on smart policing and technical support the police have arrested the real culprit Arpit Arnab. Also there is only one accused in the case and not three as claimed by victim family members earlier,” said Anshuman Kumar. 

Explaining the reason behind the murder, S.P (city) Kumar, said it was outcome of love affairs against the will of parents.

Arpit and the deceased girl Shweta were in a relationship. The girl and boy used to meet on the rooftop during the night. When Sweta’s mother Chanda Singh came to know about their affairs, she raised an objection. But the girl did not pay heed to her mother’s objection and used to meet Arnab secretly, the release reads.

“In the intervening night of June 17 and 18, Arpit went to meet the girl on her invitation and reached the rooftop scaling boundary wall. Between 3.30am to 4am both came down stairs. In the meantime, the girl’s mother got up. When Chanda Singh noticed Arpit in a compromising position with her daughter, she lost her cool and started beating up youth. In retaliation the youth attacked the woman on her neck three to four times with a knife kept for cutting vegetables. When the knife got broken he used a hammer to attack her head four times. When son Praveen heard mother raising an alarm, he rushed to her rescue. On which Arpit hit his head three to four times. Pravin fell down. When Shweta raised an objection, he also hit her head with a hammer three to four times. Shweta also fell down. After that, Arpit escaped leaping off the rooftop,” the release reads.

In the incident, the girl died on the spot and her brother was taken to the hospital while their mother was admitted to RIMS in critical condition.

Police claimed that the accused was smart as he switched off his mobile phone and went to Bilaspur, from where he went Vishakhapattnam, Bhagalpur and Patna before he reached Ranchi.

Police also said that earlier Chanda Singh named Rohan as accused in the case as she was not in her proper sense after the incident. The police also said that the statement of the woman will be recorded further when she gets well.
