Youth stabs stepfather to death after drunken brawl in Keralam

Palakkad (Keralam), Sep 27 (PTI) A youth allegedly stabbed his stepfather to death following a drunken brawl at Malampuzha here, police said on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Vinod (38) of Kurthikadavu, Anakkal, Malampuzha.

Police are searching for Vinod's stepson, Satheesh, in connection with the killing.

According to police, Vinod and Satheesh consumed liquor together at their house on Saturday night.

At around 7.30 pm, the two clashed over sharing the liquor, police said.

During the altercation, Satheesh allegedly restrained Vinod in the courtyard and stabbed him in the left chest before assaulting him, police said.

Vinod died on the spot, while Satheesh fled the scene, they said.

Malampuzha police reached the house and launched an investigation.

A murder case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace Satheesh, police said.

The body will be handed over to the relatives after postmortem, officials said.
