Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that animal sacrifice during Bakrid will not be permitted at public places across the state, and has instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines ahead of the festival.
According to the directive, sacrifices will only be allowed at pre-designated and authorised locations, and no new sites will be permitted. The Chief Minister also reiterated that the sacrifice of prohibited animals remains strictly banned.
He further directed that prayers (namaz) must be offered only at traditional and designated venues, and under no circumstances should public roads be blocked for religious gatherings.
The state government has also instructed officials to maintain vigilance over sanitation, power supply, and security arrangements during the festival period. Special focus has been placed on proper disposal of waste generated from animal sacrifice activities.
Yogi Adityanath also ordered strict action against illegal slaughterhouses and said that open sale of meat in public areas will not be allowed. Licensed slaughterhouses must also operate within prescribed capacity limits.
Security measures have been intensified, including flag marches in sensitive areas, increased foot patrolling, and monitoring of potential law and order situations. District administrations have been directed to review past incidents and take preventive action where necessary.
The Chief Minister also emphasised coordination with peace committees at local levels and directed officials to ensure smooth conduct of upcoming festivals, including Ganga Dussehra, across major religious sites in the state.
