Yo Yo Honey Singh tells Delhi HC he did not sing controversial 2006 track ‘Vol. 1’

Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh informed the Delhi High Court that he was not the singer of the controversial 2006 track Vol. 1, allegedly released under the ‘Mafia Mundeer’ collaboration with Badshah.
Appearing before Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, Honey Singh’s counsel said the rapper has consistently maintained that the “vulgar” song was not sung by him and that he wants the track removed from online platforms to clear the “stigma” attached to his name.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Hindu Shakti Dal seeking removal of the song from platforms such as YouTube and Spotify over allegedly objectionable lyrics targeting women.
Honey Singh’s lawyer also denied allegations that the rapper performed parts of the song during an event at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in March 2025, saying no such performance took place.
Calling the issue “serious”, the High Court directed Honey Singh to file an affidavit clarifying his stand and posted the matter for hearing on May 19.
Earlier, the court had strongly criticised the lyrics of the song, calling them vulgar and derogatory, while directing its removal from online platforms.
