Bihar CM inaugurates monthly camp to address students' grievances
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday inaugurated a 'Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir' (student support camp) in Vaishali district, officials said.
The initiative aims to ensure effective and time-bound resolution of students' grievances in educational institutions across Bihar, they added.
The decision comes amid ongoing protests by students and job aspirants in Patna's Gardanibagh area.
Choudhary inaugurated a 'Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir' at Bihar College of Engineering in Vaishali's Bidupur as part of the 'Saat Nishchay-3' programme, a statement issued by the chief minister's office (CMO) said.
The camps, which would be organised on the fourth Tuesday of every month at educational institutions, will ensure that complaints and suggestions related to academic arrangements, examinations, hostels, drinking water, toilets, canteens and other student-related issues are heard and addressed, it stated.
"The resolution of students' problems is the government's priority. Through the 'Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir', students will get an opportunity to directly place their problems before the officials concerned," Choudhary said.
He directed officials to ensure resolution of complaints within a maximum of 30 days along with effective monitoring of their disposal.
Choudhary also announced that students will be able to register their complaints online and track their status through the portal and Helpline 1100.
The CM inspected the information-cum-assistance counter set up in the faculty room and gathered information about the facilities and services being provided to students, the statement read.
Choudhary directed the officials to ensure internet connectivity and uninterrupted power supply at the college.
On a request from students, the CM directed officials to identify a suitable site near the engineering college campus for opening a 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra' so that students as well as locals could benefit from it, officials said.
