Woman e-rickshaw driver among 22 held in ISI spy bust

Meera Prajapati, a 30-year-old woman from Mathura, was arrested by Ghaziabad Police for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistan. She used her e-rickshaw as a cover to gather information without raising suspicion.
Meera was part of a larger espionage network that used stolen SIM cards and CCTV cameras to spy on sensitive Indian sites, including Delhi Cantonment and Sonipat railway Station. The network, allegedly linked to Pakistan’s ISI, had plans to install 50 such cameras from Delhi to Kashmir.
Meera had direct contact with a Pakistani handler, Sarfaraz Sardar, and was involved in supplying illegal weapons. She had previously been arrested by the Delhi Police in 2025 for arms smuggling. The police have arrested 22 people in connection with the case, including Meera, another key operative.
Ghaziabad Police have cracked one of the largest espionage modules uncovered in recent years in Uttar Pradesh, arresting at least 21-22 individuals, including several minors, for allegedly running a Pakistan-backed spying operation linked to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
This bust highlights growing concerns over hybrid threats using civilian infrastructure and low-cost technology for cross-border surveillance.
