US warned Iran of alleged Israeli plot to target top negotiators: Report

The United States reportedly warned Iran about an alleged Israeli plan to assassinate two of its top negotiators during sensitive diplomatic talks aimed at ending regional tensions. According to reports citing current and former US officials, the warning was passed through intermediary countries after Washington feared such an attack could derail ongoing negotiations and trigger a wider conflict.
The officials believed the alleged targets were Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, both of whom were playing key roles in negotiations related to a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Reports suggest the US wanted to prevent any action that could disrupt diplomatic efforts or further destabilise the Middle East.
Neither the US nor Israel has officially confirmed the reported assassination plot. The revelations, however, point to differences between Washington and Tel Aviv over how to handle the conflict with Iran. The report has renewed attention on the fragile nature of diplomacy in the region, where tensions remain high despite ongoing efforts to maintain peace and avoid further military escalation.
