UP Govt extends Ram Temple donation probe by 15 days

The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the tenure of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya by another 15 days. The extension is aimed at allowing investigators to widen the scope of the inquiry and conduct a more comprehensive examination of the alleged financial irregularities.
The three-member SIT was constituted on June 13 following allegations of misappropriation of donations made by devotees at the Ram Temple. It had initially been given 15 days to complete its investigation. Since then, the probe has led to the registration of an FIR and the arrest of eight individuals allegedly linked to the case. Investigators are examining donation records, cash handling procedures, CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the extent of the alleged embezzlement and identify everyone involved.
Officials said the additional time will help the SIT scrutinise financial transactions, question more witnesses and gather further evidence before submitting its final report. The investigation remains one of the most closely watched cases involving the Ram Temple, with authorities maintaining that all aspects of the allegations will be thoroughly examined.
