Udalguri school felicitates Agnipath recruits, trainers

A felicitation ceremony was held at Udalguri Higher Secondary School on Friday to honour young recruits selected for the Indian Army under the Agnipath Scheme and recognize the efforts of the training teams that guided them through the recruitment process.
The event was organised by local civil society groups in collaboration with the civil administration and was attended by BTR Deputy Chief Executive Member Rihon Daimari as the chief guest. The ceremony highlighted the Indian Army’s outreach efforts aimed at encouraging and preparing Bodo youth for a career in the armed forces.
Addressing the gathering, Daimari lauded the dedication of the Army’s training teams and their role in shaping the future of aspiring candidates. He said such initiatives not only provide employment opportunities for local youth but also contribute significantly to nation-building and national security.
As part of its recruitment outreach programme, the Indian Army conducted extensive awareness campaigns in schools and colleges across the region, reaching more than 2,000 students from 30 educational institutions.
The initiative began with a pre-recruitment rally held on November 23, 2024, to identify and prepare potential candidates for the recruitment process.
Following a screening process, 343 candidates were shortlisted based on their performance in mock tests. These candidates were subsequently trained in batches by the Red Horns Gunners at designated locations to prepare them for the Common Entrance Examination.
Of the 343 candidates trained for the 2025 recruitment cycle, 234 successfully cleared the written examination. The successful candidates then underwent intensive physical training under the supervision of a dedicated Army team. The final physical recruitment tests were conducted from February 13 to 15, 2026, resulting in the selection of 119 male candidates.
Officials informed that 50 of the selected candidates have already received their joining letters and are set to begin their journey in the Indian Army.
Speakers at the event said the felicitation ceremony was intended not only to celebrate the achievements of the selected candidates and training teams but also to inspire more young people to join the armed forces and contribute to the nation.
The Indian Army, in partnership with the civil administration, continues to undertake several community development initiatives in the region, including sports tournaments, vocational skill development programmes and environmental awareness campaigns aimed at empowering local youth and strengthening community ties.
