Uber to expand premium service in India

Ride-hailing service Uber announced that they would be dramatically increasing the number of vehicles on their ‘Uber Black’ premium service in 2026. Working with fleet operators such as the CarDekho promoted Carrum which recently raised $7 million (INR 60 crore) in Series-A funding from Uber, plans exist to double the fleet of Black vehicles.
The Uber Black fleet is currently only available in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Bengaluru but according to Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, the demand for ‘premium mobility and elevated service standards’ has been such that the service will also be rolled out in other cities. The service also announced that starting with Delhi-NCR, users will also be able to pre-reserve Uber Black services up to 90 days in advance starting immediately. Singh also announced that the ride-hailing service was working with the Delhi Government in order to reduce vehicular pollution with increased ‘Uber Shuttle’ services for professionals as well as a larger fleet of electric vehicles both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
“We all have to work together to combat the issue of pollution, improving last-mile connectivity is one part of that.”Singh also spoke about how Uber will be expanding offerings on their ‘Uber One’ membership product, going beyond cashback and discounts. “These will be rolled out through the year and they will give great value to their members.”
Uber India, which said that over 1.5 million driver partners travelled over 11 billion kilometers across India in 2025, is also working with the Indian Railways to set up ‘Uber Zones’ for passengers at Railway Stations for ease of entry and exit.
