UAE President to visit India today

At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will pay an official visit to India on January 19, 2026. This will be his third official visit to India since assuming office as President of the UAE and his fifth visit to the country over the past decade.
The visit reflects the growing momentum in India–UAE relations, marked by frequent high-level exchanges in recent years. It follows the visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in September 2024, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Crown Prince of Dubai, in April 2025. India and the UAE share warm, close and multi-dimensional ties founded on strong political, cultural and economic engagement.
The UAE is among India’s key trading and investment partners, with bilateral cooperation significantly strengthened through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the Local Currency Settlement mechanism and the Bilateral Investment Treaty.
Energy cooperation remains a cornerstone of the relationship, supported by long-term supply arrangements and strategic collaboration. During the visit, the two leaders are expected to review the progress of the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and explore new avenues of cooperation across sectors.
The discussions will also include an exchange of views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, where both countries share a high degree of convergence.
The visit is seen as another important step in further consolidating the strategic partnership between India and the UAE, reinforcing their shared commitment to regional stability, economic growth and global cooperation.
