Twisha Sharma's texts warning she would 'vanish' form core of CBI chargesheet

A series of text messages sent by former model and actor Twisha Sharma including a message to her sister-in-law describing her husband as having crossed "all limits" and left her feeling suffocated form the backbone of the CBI's chargesheet in her death probe, officials said.
The CBI's 31-page chargesheet, accompanied by voluminous supporting documents, was filed on Monday against Sharma's husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, accusing them of inflicting mental torture on the former actor-model, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her marital home in Bhopal in May.
Some forensic reports remain pending, which the CBI believes will play a vital role in the investigation, particularly regarding the psychological harm Sharma allegedly suffered at the hands of her husband and mother-in-law, officials said.
Investigators are awaiting extraction and forensic results, including data from the victim's iPhone, which the CBI believes may contain incriminating evidence concerning Singh and his mother, as well as leads pointing to other witnesses or suspects, according to the chargesheet.
The agency is also awaiting findings from CFSL Delhi regarding the continuity and possible tampering of a Digital Video Recorder retrieved from the accused's house, as well as voice sample comparison reports from CFSL Bhopal matching the accused's specimen voices against audio recordings recovered from multiple mobile devices, the chargesheet said.
These awaited findings build on a behavioural analysis and forensic psychological assessment derived from Sharma's diaries and CCTV footage, which the CBI said painted a picture of extreme mental cruelty, "helplessness, and an absolute absence of support."
Although a prior confrontation involving Sharma's family had led the couple to attend counselling, her distress escalated rapidly in her final days, according to the chargesheet.
The AIIMS medical board, which conducted a court-ordered second postmortem, submitted its final forensic opinion to the CBI in a sealed cover, concluding that Sharma died by suicidal hanging.
The CBI recorded messages in which Sharma told her mother that her in-laws were attempting to portray her as mentally unstable and urgently asked to be taken away quietly, sent five days before her death. This was followed by a message to her sister-in-law, Rashi Abrol, in which she said her husband had gone beyond all bounds and that she felt suffocated enough to consider ending her life.
"I am suffocating, Rashi, as I am now, and that's why I swear that I will be able to find the courage to finish my life completely... I will find a way to vanish," Sharma wrote to Abrol three days before her death, according to the chargesheet.
Five days before she died, Sharma had also messaged her mother asking to be taken away quietly without confrontation with her in-laws, having earlier warned that they were making deliberate efforts to frame her as a "mental case."
The chargesheet chronicles alleged psychological torture inflicted on Sharma by Singh and his mother, a retired district judge, over the six months of the marriage. Based on behavioural analysis and forensic psychological evaluation using Sharma's diaries, CCTV footage and digital evidence, the CBI found that she experienced "hopelessness, enduring psychological harm" and a total absence of support due to severe mental cruelty by the two accused.
The investigation found that Singh regularly subjected Sharma to derogatory remarks and carried out a sustained campaign of character assassination over her past relationships, despite her having been transparent about them before marriage, the chargesheet said. The CBI alleged that Giribala Singh frequently encouraged her son's psychological abuse and shielded him whenever Sharma raised complaints.
Investigators cited multiple instances of alleged mistreatment, including Singh making offensive remarks after Sharma told him she was pregnant, and mocking her by saying "Natak kar rahi hai" while she was bleeding heavily following the termination of her pregnancy.
The chargesheet further alleges that the mother and son repeatedly pressured Sharma to transfer Rs 20 lakh from her DEMAT savings into Singh's account, and continued to harass her even as she was caring for her father, who had suffered a heart attack in March 2026.
Previous family interventions failed to defuse the situation, according to the chargesheet. In April, Sharma's brother Harshit, along with another brother and their mother, met Giribala Singh to raise concerns about the ongoing harassment linked to Sharma's past relationships. Although both sides agreed the couple should undergo counselling to repair their relationship, the alleged abuse continued.
