Trump to meet Xi Jinping on May 14 during 3 day China visit

US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on May 14 during his three-day official visit to China, amid heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing concerns over trade, Taiwan and the Middle East crisis.
According to multiple international reports, Trump’s visit to Beijing is expected to take place from May 13 to May 15 and will mark the first visit by a US president to China since 2017.
The summit between the two leaders was earlier delayed due to tensions linked to the Iran conflict but has now been rescheduled for mid-May. Analysts expect the meeting to focus on stabilising US-China relations, trade disputes, artificial intelligence, energy security and regional geopolitical challenges.
Reports suggest the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz could become key discussion points during the summit, particularly as China remains heavily dependent on energy imports passing through the region.
Chinese state media described Trump’s upcoming visit as an opportunity to “stabilise and refine” bilateral ties between the two countries.
The meeting is also expected to address longstanding tensions over tariffs, Taiwan, technology competition and military issues in the Indo-Pacific region. Experts believe the summit may help maintain fragile diplomatic stability, though major breakthroughs are considered unlikely.
According to reports, several leading American business executives, including top corporate leaders from major US companies, may accompany Trump during the visit as Washington and Beijing seek to improve economic engagement.
The White House and Chinese Foreign Ministry have both indicated that preparations for the high-profile summit are underway.
