Three killed as vehicle plunges into gorge in J&K's Reasi

Three members of a family were killed and two others injured after their vehicle skidded off a hilly road and plunged into a gorge in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday, Aug 19.
The accident occurred near Panasa village late Tuesday night, when the driver of an SUV lost control while negotiating a curve on the route from Thanole to Thub village.
Rescuers retrieved the bodies of Prem Singh (50), his wife Turi Devi (45), and his mother-in-law Durgi Devi (70) from the wreckage, officials said.
Two other passengers jumped out of the vehicle before it plunged into the gorge and sustained injuries. They were taken to hospital, where their condition was said to be stable, officials added.
In a separate accident, six people were injured late Tuesday night when a cab veered off the road and landed in fields at Gundha village in the Khawas area of Rajouri district. The injured have been admitted to hospital, officials said.
