Tamil Nadu Election Results 2026 Live Updates: TVK Leads in 100+ Seats, CM Stalin Trails in Kolathur

: Counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 is underway, with early trends indicating a strong performance by actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is leading in over 100 constituencies across the state.
According to Election Commission data, TVK is ahead in around 105 of the 234 seats, while the AIADMK-led alliance is leading in approximately 75 seats. The ruling DMK alliance is trailing with leads in about 47 constituencies.
In a significant development, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is trailing in his Kolathur constituency against TVK candidate V.S. Babu after multiple rounds of counting. Several senior DMK leaders and ministers are also facing tough contests and trailing in key seats.
TVK chief C. Joseph Vijay is leading in Tiruchi East and Perambur constituencies, strengthening the party’s position in what has turned into a high-stakes three-cornered contest involving DMK, AIADMK, and the new entrant TVK.
The elections for the 234-member Assembly were held in a single phase on April 23, recording a voter turnout of 85.1%, with around 4.8 crore votes cast. Counting is being conducted across 62 centres, covering over 75,000 polling stations, under tight security arrangements.
In southern Tamil Nadu, TVK candidates are leading in a majority of constituencies, including several key seats in Madurai and surrounding districts. Meanwhile, AIADMK has managed to secure leads in pockets such as Hosur and Veerapandi.
The performance of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), led by Seeman, is also being closely watched, as the party has fielded candidates in all 234 seats with a significant representation of women.
Exit polls had largely projected an advantage for the DMK alliance, but early counting trends suggest a major shift in voter preference, with TVK emerging as a strong contender in the state’s political landscape.
As counting progresses, all eyes remain on whether TVK can convert its early leads into a decisive mandate and reshape Tamil Nadu politics.
