SSB chief felicitates 64 national players

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Friday organised a grand felicitation ceremony at its Force Headquarters to honour 64 sportspersons for their stellar performances in various National and All India Police (AIP) competitions. Director General (DG) Sanjay Singhal presented the prestigious DG’s Disc, cash rewards, and Commendation Rolls to the achievers who brought laurels to the Force in January 2026.
A major highlight of the event was the out-of-turn promotion of Constable Ravi Panchal to the rank of Head Constable. Panchal, a silver medallist at the 10th Sanda World Cup held in Jiangyin, China, in 2025, was rewarded for his exceptional international achievement. Officials stated that the promotion was granted under the SSB’s special incentive policy, designed to bolster the morale of elite athletes and inspire personnel to strive for global excellence.
Addressing the gathering, DG Sanjay Singhal lauded the athletes as symbols of discipline and dedication. “Your achievements have not only secured medals but have significantly enhanced the reputation of the Force at the national level,” Singhal said, encouraging the players to maintain their momentum for upcoming sporting events. The Force demonstrated a robust performance across five major competitions in January 2026. Out of 64 participants, the SSB contingent secured a total of 12 medals, including two Gold, four Silver, and six Bronze.
In the 2nd AIP Handball Cluster held in Siliguri, the women’s handball team clinched Gold, while the women’s basketball and men’s handball teams secured Silver and Bronze, respectively. The ceremony was attended by senior officers including Additional Director General Rekha Lohani, and Inspectors General MR Naik, Ganesh Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Somit Joshi, and Dr Ashok Rai.
