Telangana Congress rift deepens over Sushmita’s remarks against Revanth Reddy

A group of Telangana Congress MLAs and MLCs on Friday asked the party leadership to take action over remarks made by Forest Minister Konda Surekha's daughter against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other leaders.
Around 20 legislators addressed a press conference in Hyderabad and said comments against the chief minister could not be ignored. They also questioned Surekha's decision to describe her daughter's remarks as her personal views.
Congress MLA Vemula Veeresam said those who publicly criticise the chief minister should not continue in the party. "Those who find fault with the CM have no moral right to continue in the party," he said.
Veeresam also questioned Surekha's response to the disciplinary committee. He said that if the minister had no connection with her daughter's remarks, she should have condemned them.
"Konda Surekha in her reply to the disciplinary committee mentioned that she is not connected (in her daughter's remarks). If you are not concerned, why you did not condemn the remarks. We are asking whether you have a responsibility to condemn such comments or not when you are collectively working with the CM," he said.
He urged the Congress leadership to take a firm decision and said party members should raise their differences within the organisation instead of making statements against the chief minister in public.
Congress MLA Vedma Bojju also raised questions over recent remarks made by some other party leaders, including Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and State Planning Board Vice-Chairman G Chinna Reddy.
