Southwest monsoon covers entire Delhi, advances across Northern and Western India: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon has covered the entire National Capital Territory of Delhi and advanced further into several parts of northern and western India, bringing widespread rainfall and relief from prolonged heat and humidity.
The monsoon has also progressed across parts of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant expansion of the rainy season.
According to the IMD, favourable atmospheric conditions are expected to help the monsoon advance into the remaining parts of northwestern India over the next two to three days.
The weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across many regions, with isolated spells of heavy rain likely in some areas.
Authorities have advised residents to stay alert for possible waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and localized flooding during intense showers.
The arrival of the monsoon is expected to lower temperatures, improve weather conditions, and provide a boost to agricultural activities across affected states. However, the IMD has urged people to follow official weather advisories as heavy rainfall may also increase the risk of landslides and flooding in vulnerable areas.
