UP man allegedly kills mother and brother over ancestral property dispute in Banda

A man allegedly shot dead his mother and younger brother in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district on Sunday following a dispute related to ancestral property, police said.

The incident took place in Baberu town behind the tehsil premises during the afternoon hours.

According to Superintendent of Police Palash Bansal, police received information around noon that Rajkishore Mishra had allegedly opened fire on his mother, Shanti, 60, and his younger brother Devidin, 35.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them dead. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, officials said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that tensions had been brewing within the family after the accused’s father reportedly sold a portion of ancestral land.

Police said the firing allegedly took place following an argument over the property dispute on Sunday.

Forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene, while four police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused, who remains absconding.
