PM Modi Accuses Congress Of Betraying DMK Targets Karnataka Power Struggle

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing the party of betraying its longtime ally DMK and remaining consumed by internal power struggles in Karnataka.
Addressing a BJP event in Bengaluru, Modi said Congress had relied heavily on the DMK for decades whenever the party faced political crises, particularly during Congress-led governments at the Centre before 2014.
“Just look at the situation in Tamil Nadu right now. For 25-30 years, the Congress shared a close relationship with the DMK. Time and again, the alliance with the DMK pulled the Congress out of crises,” Modi said.
He alleged that Congress later distanced itself from the DMK once political equations changed.
“The very DMK that consistently worked for the betterment of the Congress was betrayed the moment the political winds shifted,” the Prime Minister added.
Modi further claimed that Congress was focused solely on political survival and accused the party of depending on regional allies to stay relevant.
“Driven by a lust for power, the power-hungry Congress stabbed the DMK in the back at the very first opportunity,” he said.
The Prime Minister also targeted the Congress government in Karnataka, alleging that internal disputes over leadership and power-sharing had overshadowed governance in the State.
Referring to speculation surrounding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Modi said the Congress leadership remained uncertain about who would continue leading the government.
“For the past three years in Karnataka, instead of resolving people’s problems, most of the government’s time has been spent resolving internal conflicts,” Modi stated.
Contrasting the Congress with the BJP-led NDA, Modi said the alliance represented stability and development-focused governance. He pointed to recent electoral performances in states including Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as signs of growing public support for the NDA.
