Dua Lipa Sues Samsung For 15 Million Over Alleged Unauthorised Image Use

Pop star Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the technology giant of using her image on television packaging without authorisation.

According to reports, the lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The singer alleges Samsung began featuring her photograph on product packaging last year without seeking consent or offering compensation.

The complaint claims Dua Lipa’s team had earlier demanded the removal of the packaging, but Samsung allegedly refused to comply.

The filing states that the singer’s image was used in a large-scale marketing campaign without her approval or involvement.

“Ms Lipa’s face was prominently used for a mass marketing campaign for a consumer product without her knowledge, without consideration, and as to which she had no say, control, or input whatsoever,” the complaint reportedly states.

The lawsuit also argues that the alleged unauthorised use created a false impression that Dua Lipa endorsed Samsung products.

According to court filings, several fans reportedly admitted on social media that they purchased Samsung televisions because the singer’s image appeared on the packaging.

The legal complaint includes allegations related to unauthorised commercial use of intellectual property, false endorsement and unfair competition laws.

Lawyers representing Dua Lipa stated that the singer is selective about brand partnerships and would not have approved the alleged use of her image without formal agreement.

Samsung has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit.
