Ranchi Conducts One Hour Special Self Enumeration Drive For Census 2027

A special one-hour self-enumeration drive was conducted across Ranchi on Sunday as part of the first phase of the Census 2027 exercise, officials said.

The digital self-enumeration process, which began in Jharkhand on May 1, allows residents to submit household information online through the official Census portal.

As part of the awareness initiative, officials and employees at the district collectorate, block offices and circle offices completed their online self-enumeration between 12 pm and 1 pm.

Authorities also arranged assistance for citizens at panchayat secretariats and Anganwadi centres across the district to help them complete the process smoothly.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chief Census Officer Manjunath Bhajantri said the objective of the campaign was to increase public participation in the digital Census process.

According to the Directorate of Census Operations, self-enumeration will continue till May 15, after which field operations related to housing listing and housing census will begin from May 16 to June 14.

During this phase, enumerators will visit households across Jharkhand to collect information directly from residents.

Officials said nearly 76,000 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed across the State for the Census exercise.

The first phase of Census 2027 includes 33 questions covering housing conditions, family details, household amenities and assets.

The second phase, scheduled between February 9 and February 28 next year, will focus on population data, demographic details, migration and socio-economic information.
