80+ Dead as storms, heavy rain lash Uttar Pradesh

At least 80+ people were killed after severe storms, heavy rain and lightning struck multiple districts across Uttar Pradesh, causing widespread destruction and disrupting normal life.

Strong winds uprooted trees and electric poles, while several houses were damaged during the intense weather conditions that hit the state on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

According to the Relief Commissioner’s office, district administrations across affected areas have been directed to verify all incidents with “full sensitivity” and ensure financial assistance reaches affected families within 24 hours.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the situation and instructed officials to speed up relief and rescue operations in the affected districts.

Officials said emergency teams were deployed in several areas to clear fallen trees, restore electricity supply and assist stranded residents.

Visuals from different districts showed roads blocked by uprooted trees and damaged infrastructure following the powerful storm and heavy rainfall.

The state government has also directed local authorities to monitor weather conditions closely and provide immediate support to families affected by lightning strikes, house collapses and other rain-related incidents.

Relief operations are currently underway in multiple districts as authorities assess the full extent of the damage.
