Militants Kill 9 police officers in attack on security post in Pakistan’s Balochistan

At least 9 police officers were killed after militants launched a deadly attack on a security post in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province says official. The assault took place in the Ziarat district of southwestern Pakistan, triggering a heavy exchange of fire between security personnel and the attackers.
The militants targeted a police post guarding the Mangi Dam project area, where several officers were reportedly stationed. Officials said some personnel were also missing after the attack, while security forces launched an operation to clear the area and search for those unaccounted for.
Balochistan government officials said security forces carried out a counter-operation following the assault. Reports said several militants were killed during the operation, though no group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack. Suspicion has been directed towards separatist and militant groups active in the region.
Balochistan has witnessed repeated militant attacks in recent years, with insurgent groups targeting security forces, infrastructure projects and government installations. The province, which shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran, remains one of Pakistan’s most volatile regions.
