Champat Rai says he will respond point-by-point after final SIT report in Ram Temple funds row

Former general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, has said he will address the allegations surrounding the alleged misappropriation of Ram Temple donation funds only after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submits its final report. Rai said he would respond to every allegation “point by point” once the investigation is complete.
The statement comes amid an ongoing probe into alleged irregularities linked to donations received for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The SIT is investigating allegations of theft and misuse of funds, including claims of lapses during the donation counting process.
Rai had earlier stepped down from the post of general secretary, along with trustee Anil Mishra, amid the controversy. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust accepted their resignations during a key meeting and appointed Krishna Mohan as interim general secretary while deciding on further administrative changes.
Rai maintained that he would wait for the findings of the investigation before making a detailed statement. He said the final SIT report would provide clarity on the allegations and allow him to present his response based on the facts emerging from the probe.
The controversy has triggered wider discussions over transparency and accountability in the management of temple donations. The Trust has also moved towards strengthening its administrative structure, including plans for greater oversight of its functioning.
