Israeli Strikes in Lebanon Kill 39 Amid Continued Clashes With Hezbollah

At least 39 people were killed in a fresh wave of Israeli strikes across Lebanon, according to the Lebanese health ministry, as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continued despite an earlier ceasefire announcement.

One of the deadliest attacks targeted the southern Lebanese town of Saksakiyeh, where an Israeli strike killed at least seven people, including a child, and injured 15 others, among them three children.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strike targeted Hezbollah operatives allegedly operating from a structure used for military purposes. The Israeli military added that it was aware of reports of civilian casualties and claimed precautionary measures, including aerial surveillance and precision-guided munitions, had been used before the attack.

The latest escalation comes weeks after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon on April 16. However, cross-border hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have continued since then.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported multiple Israeli strikes across southern parts of the country on Saturday, with attacks focusing on areas allegedly linked to Hezbollah infrastructure.

In another incident in Nabatieh, Lebanon’s health ministry said an Israeli drone strike targeted a Syrian man riding a motorbike with his 12-year-old daughter. Officials alleged that after the pair moved away from the site of the initial strike, the drone launched another attack, killing the father.

According to the ministry, the drone then carried out a third strike targeting the injured girl directly. She was later rushed into life-saving surgery.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah reportedly launched a drone attack into northern Israel, injuring three Israeli soldiers, according to the Israeli military.

Lebanese authorities said more than 120 people, including women and children, have been killed in Israeli attacks across the country over the past week. The health ministry has not specified how many of those killed were civilians or combatants.

The ongoing conflict has deepened fears of a broader regional escalation as violence persists despite international diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
