Iranian Ship MV Touska Crew Evacuated To Pakistan After US Seizure Amid Rising Tensions

The crew of the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel MV Touska has been evacuated to Pakistan after the ship was seized by the United States amid ongoing regional tensions.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 22 crew members were transferred as part of a “confidence-building measure” by Washington. The crew arrived in Pakistan on Sunday night and are set to be repatriated to Iran.

The vessel had reportedly been intercepted after it failed to comply with a US-imposed blockade on Iranian ports. The move comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions following the recent US-Iran conflict and fragile ceasefire arrangements in the region.

Islamabad stated that the ship itself will also be moved to Pakistani territorial waters for necessary repairs before being returned to its original owners. The process is being coordinated with both US and Iranian authorities.

Pakistan, which has been actively mediating between Washington and Tehran, described the development as a positive step towards easing tensions. The Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to facilitating dialogue and supporting diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability.

The seizure of commercial vessels has become a recurring flashpoint since the conflict began earlier this year, with both sides engaging in naval standoffs in key maritime zones, particularly around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

While there has been no immediate official response from Tehran, Iranian media outlets have reported on the development, signalling its significance in the broader geopolitical context.
