Pijush Hazarika Wins Jagiroad Seat By Record Margin Becomes MLA Fourth Time Assam Results 2026

Assam minister Pijush Hazarika has secured a decisive victory from the Jagiroad Assembly Constituency in the Assembly Elections 2026, winning by a massive margin of 93,584 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader defeated Congress candidate Bubul Das, further strengthening his political standing in the state. With this win, Hazarika has become a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the fourth consecutive term.

Hazarika, who began his electoral journey in 2011 by winning the Raha seat, has since maintained a stronghold in Jagiroad, securing victories in 2016, 2021, and now 2026.

As per official data, he polled 1,55,129 votes, significantly ahead of his opponent who secured 61,545 votes.

A key figure in Assam politics, Hazarika has held several important portfolios, including Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs, and Information & Public Relations. He is also considered a close associate of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Before joining the BJP, Hazarika was associated with the Congress and was part of the first BJP-led government in Assam under Sarbananda Sonowal.

His latest victory underscores the BJP’s continued dominance in Assam as counting trends remain in favour of the ruling alliance.
